This exhibit is a deconstruction of the of the African American movement, and integration in Mexico and San Antonio. Starting from 1821 with the first black president of Mexico to 1964 when segregation was abolished all over the US. This exhibit will feature Pivotal moments in history from allies to the African-American community from Mexico, the establishment of the African-American community in San Antonio, and the Keyhole night club, San Antonio’s first integrated night club. Exhibit opening will feature performance by the THE FOREIGN ARM, and Valerie Campbell. It will also feature a in depth look at the keyhole with memorabilia and a short film from people of the African American community of San Antonio.
